주님이 계신 곳

(고전7:26) 현재의 고난 때문에, 사람이 지금 상태 그대로 지내는 것이 좋다고 나는 생각합니다.

우리의 천연적인 생각은 우리가 우리의 환경의 불에서 떠나야 한다는 것입니다. 우리에게 골치 아픈 아내나 남편이 있다면 우리는 그러한 상황에서 구해 달라고 하나님께 기도하며 간구해야 한다고 생각할지 모릅니다. 그러나 주님은 “나는 너의 결혼 생활의 이러한 상황에서 너를 구하지 않을 것이다.

그 대신 너를 그곳에 그대로 두고 내가 가서 너의 환경을 즐거운 곳이 되게 하겠다.”라고 말씀하실 것입니다. 그분은 오셔서 우리와 함께하실 것이며 우리의 고통 속에서 우리를 돌보실 것입니다. 나는 중국에서 일본 침략군 아래 투옥되었던 나의 체험으로부터 이것을 간증할 수 있습니다.

그러한 고통의 기간에 주님은 나와 함께하셨습니다. 어느 날 내가 주님께 말하고 있을 때, 나에게는 그분이 나와 함께 감옥 안에 계신다는 깊은 느낌이 있었습니다. 나는 “주님, 당신은 왜 제가 여기에 있는지 아십니다.”라고 말하며 그분 앞에서 울었습니다.

나를 감옥에서 즉시 구출하시는 대신, 주님은 그분의 임재로써 그 감옥을 즐거운 곳이 되게 하셨습니다.출처 : 삶을 가꿔 주는 선물

기도에 꾸준히 힘씀

(행1:12~14) 그 후 제자들이 올리브산이라 불리는 산에서 예루살렘으로 돌아왔다... 그들은 성 안에 들어가서 자기들이 묵고 있던 다락방으로 올라갔다... 그들은 여인들과 예수님의 어머니 마리아와 예수님의 형제들과 함께 한마음 한뜻으로 기도를 꾸준히 계속하였다.

주님께서 죽으시기 전 제자들은 영적인 일들을 위한 기도에 흥미가 없었습니다(눅22:40, 45-46). 오히려 제자들은 그들 중에 누가 더 큰지에 관해 다투었습니다. 그러나 이제 주님께서 부활하시고 승천하신 후, 제자들의 영적 상태는 근본적으로 바뀌었습니다.

그들은 서로 다투지 않았고, 오히려 그들은 경륜적으로 쏟아 부어진 능력의 영을 받게 된 오순절이 이르기도 전에 한 마음 한 뜻으로 기도에 꾸준히 힘쓸 부담을 받았습니다. 이것은 제자들이 주님께서 부활하신 날, 본질적으로 내주하는 생명의 영을 받았다(요20:22)는 강한 표시요, 증거입니다. 백이십 명이 열흘 동안이나 한 마음 한 뜻으로 기도한다는 것은 작은 문제가 아닙니다.

제자들은 그들 안에 그들의 생명과 인격이신 그리스도가 있었기 때문에, 그렇게 긴 시간 동안 한 마음 한 뜻으로 기도할 수 있었습니다. 더 나아가 제자들은 갈릴리 사람들로서 예루살렘에 머무르고 있었고, 유대인들의 위협 아래 있었습니다. 유대인들은 예수님을 따르는 이들을 핍박하고 있었습니다.

그럼에도 불구하고 제자들은 유대인들의 위협을 두려워하지 않았고, 오히려 예루살렘에 머물러 한 마음 한 뜻으로 기도하였습니다. 이것은 분명히 사람의 노력으로 이루어질 수 없었습니다. 그들은 본질적으로 옛 존재에서 새 존재로 전환되었습니다.

이러한 전환의 결과로 그리스도를 그들의 생명과 인격으로 소유하였고, 한 마음 한 뜻으로 기도할 수 있었고, 핍박을 두려워하지 않을 수 있었습니다. (발췌문 : 하단 영문 참조)

Persevering in Prayer

Acts 1:12~14 Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet... And when they entered, they went up to the upper room where they were residing... These all continued steadfastly with one accord in prayer, together with the women and Mary the mother of Jesus, and with His brothers.

Before the Lord's death, the disciples had no interest in prayer for spiritual things (Luke 22:40, 45-46). Rather, they contended among themselves as to which was considered to be greater. But now, after the Lord's resurrection and ascension, their spiritual condition radically changed.

They did not contend among themselves, but were burdened to pray perseveringly with one accord, even before the day of Pentecost, when they would receive the outpoured Spirit of power economically. This is a strong sign and proof that they had received the indwelling Spirit of life essentially on the day of the Lord's resurrection (John 20:22).

It was a great matter for the one hundred and twenty to pray in one accord for ten days. They were able to pray in one accord for such a long time because they had Christ within them as their life and person. Furthermore, they were Galileans staying in Jerusalem, and they were under the threatening of the Jews, who were persecuting the followers of Jesus.

Nevertheless, they were not afraid of the Jews' threatening, but stayed in Jerusalem and prayed in one accord. This certainly could not have been done by human effort. They had been transferred essentially from the old being into the new being.

As a result of this transfer, they had Christ as their life and person and could pray in one accord and not be afraid of persecution.
